LinkedIn Just Became Your Biggest Asset

If you have been paying attention to the way search is changing, you probably already know that traditional search engines are facing some serious competition. Your customers are increasingly turning to AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity for answers they used to type into Google.

What you might not know is exactly where those AI tools are sourcing their information from. The surprising answer is what you’re posting on LinkedIn.

Why Your Competition isn’t sleeping on LinkedIn

Yep, LinkedIn has officially become the second-most-cited domain by AI, with 11% of all AI responses now referencing LinkedIn content directly. That puts the platform ahead of Wikipedia, YouTube, and every major news publisher. In fact, the only source ranked higher for AI citations right now is Reddit.

That means that the content you post on LinkedIn is showing up directly in conversations people are having with AI tools. When potential clients ask questions about your industry, your LinkedIn posts are shaping the answers they receive. If that content comes from you, your visibility in those conversations will be unmatched.

This is a bit of vindication for me. I’ve been harping on about why founders need a LinkedIn strategy for the best part of a year. I’ve personally closed over $20K of business through my LinkedIn content over the last 6 months, and our LinkedIn ghostwriting clients have seen increases in traffic, built audiences of thousands, and even created a partnership with a Premier League football club through LinkedIn.

The best part is that the data (both from Semrush and from my own LinkedIn strategy) is showing you do not need massive engagement or viral posts to benefit.

The average cited post has between 15 and 25 reactions. I’ve closed deals with people that I’m not even connected to. AI does not care about your follower count. It only cares about whether your content clearly answers a specific question.

However, to maximize your visibility across both LinkedIn and AI search, you do need to strategically structure your content, and the best way to do that is with a consistent content calendar built around your content pillars.

This isn’t rocket science. It’s the same principles that content people have been building strategies on for the last decade: Focus on owning one specific topic and post about the single thing you want to be known for consistently.

If you have been posting on LinkedIn, you are already ahead of the curve. If you are starting now, IMO window of opportunity is still wide open. But the more you wait, the more your competitors can claw their lead.
